Buying From Northwest Pony Express
Here at Northwest Pony Express we carry a relatively broad variety of merchandise; Antique and Modern Firearms, Traditional Archery, Vintage and Modern Guitars, Mandolins, Banjos, Western Art and Antique Americana. Purchasing any of these items is as easy as a phone call or an e-mail on your part (primarily to insure that the item is still in stock). We are able to ship domestically which includes the lower 48 as well as Alaska and Hawaii. As yet we haven't sought an export license, however, unregulated items, such as musical instruments, art, and antiques shouldn't be a problem.
Purchasing A Firearm
Purchasing modern firearms requires that you select a federally licensed (FFL) firearms dealer in your area to handle the receiving and transfer of your new firearm. This dealer will provide us with a copy of his (or her) federal firearms license. Ideally this copy will have an original signature. Most dealers will charge some fee for this service. With few exceptions the average cost is $30 per gun. Once we have a copy of this license in hand we have authority to proceed with shipping to him. Note that certain firearms and accessories (e.g. high capacity magazines) are not legal to ship into certain states (New Jersey, California, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Hawaii). Please consult your particular state's Department of Justice website to clarify these issues. Firearms manufactured prior to 1898, as well as firearms classified as Curios and Relics by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF), are usually not subject to the Gun Control Act of 1968 requirements and therefore may be shipped interstate and intrastate without regulation.
Payment Options
Northwest Pony Express accepts cash, check, credit card/debit card,money orders, and certified checks as payment. An appropriate trade may also be applied to your purchase. In the case of payment by credit card please add 3% to the purchase price. Residents of Idaho are required to pay Idaho State Sales Tax. For items paid by personal check please expect a delay in shipping of 8 to 10 days while your check clears our bank.
Layaways
Layaway periods can be arranged. Periods of 15 days to 60 days are available without any finance charges as long as the full amount of the purchase is paid by the end of the arranged layaway period. Layaways are not available for items under $250 in value. Cancellation of a layaway purchase will be subject to a restocking fee. To initiate a layaway a minimum deposit of 25% is required. We will be happy to put a HOLD on any item in inventory for up to 3 days without charge.
Inspection Period / Returns
We offer a 3 day inspection period. If, for some reason, you feel the gun or other item does not match the description given, Northwest Pony Express will refund or replace the full purchase price of the item(s), less shipping, as long as the item(s) is returned in the same condition as originally shipped. To initiate the return the buyer must first notify us of the intent to return. Shipping and transfer fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Likewise return shipping charges are the responsibility of the buyer. ( NOTE: Used firearms may be test fired, however, new and collectible firearms may not.)
Shipping
You have the choice to use the US Postal Service, UPS, or FEDEX. Our personal preference is Federal Express. Ground service is the most economical and works for most items you don't need immediately. Handguns require either Priority Mail/Insured or an Overnight service which is usually more expensive. Whatever your choice the cost of shipping will be computed at the time of sale.
